Reinaldo "Reggie" Sheffield was born in Pasadena, California on November 12, 1988 approximately 6 months before Shamesha Courtney Smith was brought into this world on May 19, 1989 in Phoenix, Arizona. Who would have ever thought that 22 years later they would be engaged to marry...
Reggie grew up in Ontario, California. He was born and bred to play football and that is what he did for 18 years of his life. He started out playing in a league called the Jr All American, his team was the Monclair Warriors. Around this same time Shamesha was in Arizona playing basketball in the YMCA league and participating in Club Track & Field for the Arizona Cheetahs.
As time goes a new chapter in their lives began to unfold... High School! During these years they each had their clicks and life long friendships. Reggie attended Chaffey High School where he was an All Star football player and a stud on campus. He made JV his freshman year and was a key player his junior year on their varsity squad. While Reggie was making hits and doing some juke moves, Shamesha was starting her high school life at Valley Christian High School as a cheerleader, basketball player, and an All Star athlete in Track & Field. She was a Varsity cheerleader her freshman year, a JV and Varsity basketball player, and a Varsity Track Star.
Now for the turning point, that very significant change that occur and will never be forgotten... Reggie and his brother JB (Best Man to Be) was recruited by Valley Christian's Varsity Football Coach to come play in Arizona. During the summer of 2004, the offer was accepted and Reggie and his family moved to Chandler, Arizona. Although Reggie moved to Arizona, his heart was still in California with his friends and other family members. That is until they spotted one another that first day of school. The attraction was instantaneous, Shamesha now a sophomore and Reggie a junior. Shamesha was a varsity cheerleader and Reggie was a varsity football player. It sounds like a fairytale come true huh, but that is not their story.
Shamesha was dating someone else at the time and Reggie had left a girlfriend in California with promises to come back in two years. They became friends and as time went on and their friendship grew deeper, their peers began teasing them about a more serious relationship in the near future. But it wasn't to be, at least not during that year of school. They officially began dating that next year, Shamesha now a junior and Reggie a senior. Looking back now, what Shamesha & Reggie both find funny about their relationship is the fact that they never "officially stated" that they were together you know girlfriend and boyfriend, it just sort of happened - they fell into it. About a year later when Reggie went off to college and Shamesha finished her last year of high school they decided that they need an offical anniversary date. Remember, they didn't have one because neither of them officially asked the other one to start dating. They picked their special day to be September 12, 2005.
As time went on LOVE WAS IN THE AIR and I Love U's began to be exchanged and just as with their never officially asking one another out till this day neither of them knows (or won't claim it) who said the first "I LOVE YOU." But what they do know is that the feeling was mutual when the first kiss was shared.
It's been a few years (six to be exact) now and their love is still as strong as when it began - he is her solider and she is his queen. She does his homework and he rubs her feet. Attending college has been a test on their love, but they remain standing strong. They are now waiting to become husband and wife, ready to begin the next chapter of their life - forever without strife...
